Namutumba begins 10-year plan to modify old buildings

Property owners and land developers in Namutumba Town Council have been plunged into uncertainty after information that authorities plan to adopt a new 10-year physical development strategy to remodel, modify and demolish poorly-setup buildings. The plan is being designed by Spatial Data Consultant and Planners, in partnership with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development. This comes after authorities, who developed the 2007 plan did not guide residents on the type of houses to be constructed and also did not plan for low, medium and highly populated areas. Mr Waiswa Mukama, a resident, said the new plan should focus on underdeveloped places.

(WVIR) - The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority (CRHA) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday afternoon for the South First Street redevelopment project. Charlottesville Mayor Nikuyah Walker, Delegate Sally Hudson and members of CRHA were there to ring in the first phase of this development. “We understand, that not just some people, but all people, deserve to have homes that they can feel and receive love in. That’s what we are intending to do with this redevelopment,” Mayor Walker said at the ceremony.

It s all geared toward the youth : New mission brings residents back to former Dana College campus

When Ed Shada walks around the former Dana College campus, greeting new residents at seemingly every turn, you d never know the grounds sat vacant for nearly a decade. There s a lot of opportunities we re exploring, and it s all geared toward the youth, Shada said. Shada and his non-profit Angels Share are leading redevelopment at the campus. The former owner Frank Krejci donated the land to this cause. Each one of the buildings up here on campus, we ve got sort of a determination as to what it could be utilized as, Shada said. Renamed the Blair Tech Campus, the grounds here are now providing housing to at-risk youth, like those aging out of foster care or nearing homelessness. Shada said eight young people already live in apartments on campus, and there will eventually be more than 70 units. We were able to get this up and running, and we re now starting to fill it, Shada said. This latest project is an extension of work Shada began years ago when he founded Project Homel
